This renovation and extension project transforms a single-family house by rethinking its volumes and its relationship with the garden. Targeted demolitions open up the villa to the outside, bringing in more natural light and improving the connection with the rear and side gardens. The extension, built to the rear and side, allows the spaces to be adapted to the needs of the occupants, in particular by creating a more spacious living room.
The terrace has been enlarged to reduce the gradient of the land and avoid a feeling of being enclosed, thus improving light and views from the ground-floor rooms. The garage has been repositioned in the basement with front access, freeing up space for vegetation on the sides of the house.
The extension stands out for its integration with the existing building. Designed as a glazed base, it supports the preserved structure of the house. A discreet staircase is integrated into a side façade, while the exposed concrete structure is in dialogue with the existing structure. Two patios maximise natural light and structure the spaces: one houses a covered entrance, the other illuminates the heart of the house. The refocused terrace blends into the surrounding vegetation.
